TaRaaSu - T R Subbaraayaru (1920 - 1984)
Talukina Subbanna had 4 sons Venkanniah, Ramaswamy, Shama Rao and Hanumantha Rao.
One of the Sons of Ramaswamy is T.R.Subba Rao - popularly known as Ta Raa Su - one of the most popular and creative writers in Kannada .
TaRaaSu’s first story got great appreciation from his uncle Venkanniah and he went on to write more than 200 books on all walks of life and his popularity soared with each book .It reached impregnable heights as several of them were made into very successful kannada movies - Naagara Haavu, Hamsa Geethe, Chandavalliya Thoata, Benkiya Bale, Gaali Maathu,Masanada Hoovu,Chandanada Bombe and Chakratheertha.
TaRaaSu , known as Subbanna in the family circles, was legendary for his detailed knowledge of the hills of Chitradurga , which is the base for most of his creative works.
An amazing personality and starkly in contrast to that of Venkanniah (Dodappa) and Shama Rao (Chikkappa) , TaRaaSu remained a rebel all his life and dared to question every thing he perceived as wrong.
An exemplary orator who could mesmerize his audience with both his speaking as well as his depth of knowledge, he won innumerable awards from the State and Sahitya Academy and the movie industry, but he rarely cared for these adulations.
